The Stephen Dreyfuss sound

is being hailed by critics as "a millennial milestone" in contemporary American music. Dreyfuss' latest CD "Jet Blues and other Short Stories”, which fuses his instrumental and vocal artistry with that of all-star Bay Area musicians, offers compelling proof of the reasons for Dreyfuss' growing reputation. On this disc (his sixth solo work since the 1993 release “Up Close” ), Stephen demonstrates his sensitive mastery of the tenor and baritone saxophones, his unique gifts as a vocalist as well as his imaginative talents as a composer and arranger. His style and interpretations reflect a broad-based musical background that includes studies in Europe, Boston's famed Berklee School of Contemporary Music and the University of Michigan. His repertoire, which ranges through blues, jazz, Latin and traditional melodies, is sprinkled with a generous handful of Dreyfuss originals for easy listening or dancing. In addition to solo, duo, and orchestral performances throughout the U.S., Dreyfuss, who is a San Francisco resident, is available for limited club and private engagements. He can be contacted here. He can be heard often in the Bay Area.
